8 days in Oahu and Kauai

August 2006

Imagine clear blue waters, soft sand, and fruity drinks. Hawaii is definitely the type of place to fully relax. You can sit on the beach all day or enjoy all the outdoor activities.  Activities in Hawaii can be expensive, so keep that in mind when you are budgeting your travels.

One of my favorite excursions was our sunset dinner cruise along the Napali coast in Kauai, nicknamed the “Garden Isle.”  I was with one of my female friends and although the mood was quite romantic, we still enjoyed ourselves amongst the honeymooners.  As tropical tunes were playing in the background, we ate delicious barbecue food and enjoyed the lovely coast.  Seeing Kauai by air or by boat will give you the chance to see the island for all its beauty.

Oahu, nicknamed the “Gathering Place,” has great beauty as well, like all the islands in Hawaii. In addition, Oahu has exciting nightlife and some historical sites like Pearl Harbor. It was nice to have the combination of Kauai and Oahu on this trip, as it provided a balance between relaxation and entertainment.”

Here is our itinerary in Oahu and Kauai:

Day 1:       Flight to Honolulu, Oahu
Day 2:       Flight to Lihue, Kauai,
Day 3-4:   Kauai
Day 5:       Flight to Honolulu, Oahu
Day 6-8:   Oahu

Sites we visited:

Kauai:  Poipu beach, Kalapaki beach, movie tour, helicopter tour, sunset cruise, Waimea Canyon

Oahu:  Pearl Harbor, Waikiki beach, Hanauma bay, Diamondhead, North Shore, Polynesian Cultural Center, Waimea Bay, Turtle beach, Dole Plantation

About Jan

In 2004 and 2010, I set aside time to travel the world in 3 parts. In 2004, I traveled to Thailand, Europe, and Pacific Northwest region of the U.S. In 2010, I traveled to 3 continents: Asia, South America, and Africa. I am not sure if I have a fascination with the number 3, but I seem to be constantly traveling by numbers.
