12 days in Singapore and Southern Thailand

April 2010

My journey started in Singapore after my 29-day trip in Southeast Asia.  Singapore is a large cosmopolitan city with plenty of places to eat and shop.  There are four official languages:  English, Malay, Chinese (Mandarin), and Tamil.  As you are walking along the streets you can hear all these different languages.  I enjoyed eating at the various hawker centers where you can find authentic ethnic food at a very inexpensive price.  One of my favorite food items was the peppered crab.  My mouth waters just thinking back to the day I met the sea creature.

After our adventure in Singapore, we took a flight to Phuket.  A lot of time was spent on the beach, but we took some snorkeling day trips to Phi Phi islands and Krabi island. It was paradise.  Lush greenery, crystal clear waters and soft sands.  We also spent a few days in Koh Samui, where we spent most of our time on the beach.  When in Thailand, you have to enjoy the massages, and what better way to enjoy them is on the beach.  You can find massage places everywhere in Thailand and it is definitely a must when visiting the “Land of Smiles.”

Here is our itinerary in Singapore and Southern Thailand:

Day 1-4:    Singapore
Day 5-8:    Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi Islands
Day 9-11:  Koh Samui
Day 12:      Bangkok

Koh Samui:  Chaweng Beach

About Jan

In 2004 and 2010, I set aside time to travel the world in 3 parts. In 2004, I traveled to Thailand, Europe, and Pacific Northwest region of the U.S. In 2010, I traveled to 3 continents: Asia, South America, and Africa. I am not sure if I have a fascination with the number 3, but I seem to be constantly traveling by numbers.
